Simple tea scones directions

  1. In a clean mixing bowl, sieve the flour. add sugar and margarine and rub to a bread crumb texture.
  2. Make a well and pour in the milk then using a wooden spatula, mix from the edges to the centre as you turn the mixing bowl. as soon as it is combined stop mixing so that air spaces do not escape.
  3. Dust your work surface and gently pour your dough. sprinkle some little more flour on the dough and gently form a ball. brush off the excess flour.
  4. Flip the dough and press to desired thickness. do not press too hard since air will escape. Using a cutter, divide the dough into equal sizes/pieces and arrange them on a greased baking tray.
  5. Whisk the egg and 2 tbsp milk so as to make the egg wash, then brush over your dough pieces generously.
  6. Bake them in the meddle section of a 200 degree celcius preheated oven for 15 minutes.
  7. Gently remove them and place on one end of a clean towel on a rack. cover them with the other side of the towel and allow to cool.
  8. Serve as a tea item and enjoy.
